SPYURK.info Project
Greetings, dear friend!
I am Mher Hovhannisyan — a historian, public figure, and the founder of the spyurk.info news and analytical platform. My professional activity is directly related to the scientific and educational issues of the Armenian Diaspora. Over the years, research and inquiries conducted across various community platforms have allowed me to observe the challenges of identity preservation from the “inside” and uncover the deep-seated reasons hindering the process of great repatriation.
The core of my observations has always been the analysis of parallels between the life of classical and non-classical Armenian communities. Direct contact with hundreds of Diaspora Armenians within the framework of the “Spyurk” summer school allowed me to form a comprehensive understanding of the diverse, and sometimes opposing, viewpoints in the field.
The Information Gap and the “Hamashpyurk” Experience Among the many problems facing the Diaspora, perhaps the most central is the weakness of informational connectivity, and in many cases, its total absence. Existing media outlets present issues fragmentarily, failing to provide a holistic picture. Previously, the “Hayern Aysor” (Armenians Today) periodical of the Ministry of Diaspora tried to fill this gap, but with the dissolution of the ministry, this important initiative also ceased.
“How well-informed are we about each other?” — this very question became the cornerstone of the “Hamashpyurk” radio program. Over the years, we have dedicated about 183 broadcasting hours to Diaspora issues, and this work continues today.
A New Phase: spyurk.info The time has come to elevate the information platform to a new qualitative level. I present to you the spyurk.info news and analytical project, founded on December 31, 2019. This is my original initiative, through which I aim to create a unified platform to centralize the daily life of the Diaspora, community news, and key issues concerning the Diaspora within Armenia.
The platform operates exclusively through my personal resources, is non-profit, and remains free from the influence of political or group interests.
Our Principles and Cooperation
Open Platform: We are open to everyone who has a sincere motivation and readiness to cover the life of Diaspora communities.
Volunteer Principle: Any individual can join the project as a volunteer journalist. After registration, our partners will receive technical guidelines for publication.
Partnership: The project is ready to establish new partnerships aimed at strengthening the informational ties of the Armenian world.
Join our initiative to work together in shaping an information field that reflects the true image of the Diaspora.
Sincerely, Mher Hovhannisyan
Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the spyurk.info project
